A fake letter is being circulated in the name of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming that he has congratulating CJI Gogoi on the verdict in the Ayodhya dispute. The Dhaka-based Indian High Commission had alerted people about a fake letter circulating in the news media of Bangladesh.
On November 9, a five-member bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi cleared the way for construction of the Ram temple on the disputed 2.77 acres of land by ruling in favor of Ramlala Virajman in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute case. The bench also ordered to provide five acres of land to Sunni Waqf Board in Ayodhya, for the construction of the mosque.
After that, a letter has been going viral on social media for the last few days in which Prime Minister Modi is congratulating CJI Gogoi on the verdict of Ayodhya dispute. In it, Prime Minister Modi was quoted saying, "I congratulate you and your bench for the wonderful contribution to the Hindu nation. Hindus will always be grateful to you for your compendable and memorable decision, which will create a new history for the Hindu Rashtra."
A twitter user name Teymur Syed shared a post with a caption "PM India Narendra Modi writes a congratulatory letter to the Chief Justice & his bench for upholding & contributing the Hindu Rashtra. One of its kind!"
A website named Kashmir Media Service writes, "Modi himself exposes the communal face of Indian Judiciary", and at the behest of Modi, the Indian judiciary and the recent verdict of the apex court in Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid case seems to be intended to appease the Hindu extremists.
Many media Institutions in Bangladesh also took the news by considering this letter as official but did not try to know the veracity of the letter.
In the Investigation, we found the viral claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to congratulated CJI Ranjan Gogoi for the Ayodhya Verdict is false. There is also a typo in the two-paragraph letter. The word ‘commendable’ is spelled as ‘compendable’.
On this, All India Radio has tweeted the English and Bangla copies of the letter, claiming that the Dhaka-based Indian High Commission has alerted people about a fake letter circulating in the news media of Bangladesh. The tweet reads "Indian High Commission in Dhaka cautions people about a fake letter being circulated in some news media in Bangladesh. The fake letter claims that PM Narendra Modi has written a letter to Chief Justice of India congratulating him on Ayodhya Verdict."
In the Press Release, the Indian High Commission said that a letter said to have been written by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, to Hon'ble Cheif Justice of India is being circulated in the local media. This letter is completely fake and malicious. It is intended to mislead people in Bangladesh and hinder social harmony. It is most egregious and wrong on the part of those who are deliberately circulating fake incorrect information to creat misunderstanding about India in the public domain.
Conclusion: The viral letter of Narendra Modi congratulating Chief Justice is fake. The Indian High Commission denied the claim through a press release.
